My name is Shiya Pouncil-Brookins, and I've been caring for dogs and serving pet families since 2016. What started as a calling to help families who needed dependable care for their dogs has become a business built entirely on relationships, referrals, and trust.
I originally started as Doggin' Daycare with Shiya — learning, growing, and building connections with families across Kansas City. When the pandemic came, I had to pause. During that time, I grew my family, navigated health challenges, and moved through some of the biggest transitions of my life.
Through it all, one thing stayed constant: families still needed someone they could truly trust with their dogs. I took a leap of faith of leaving the workforce to step into full-time entrepreneurship, rebuilt stronger systems, clearer boundaries, deeper purpose — and Nurtured Paws LLC was born in 2025.

I reintroduced my business during a season of motherhood, personal rebuilding, and life transition — which only reinforced my belief that care, consistency, and trust matter most when life feels full.
Every dog I work with is genuinely known. I learn their routines, their personality, the little things that help them feel safe. And I communicate with their families so they never have to wonder.
